Lovely lotus.

Pankaj, janm in pank, yes, a beauty in a slum. No wonder, Krishna as Padmanaabh bears it so close to Him, so that all understand how truly brave and beautiful the lotus is.

Remembering Him:

Pitaambaram, Padmanaabham,
Padmaaksham, Puroshoattamam,
Pavitram, Paramaanandam,
Hum Vandey Parmaeshwaram.

Thanks, Mani :)

And, as shankha-chakra-gada-padma-Dhaari, He tolds the lotus in His hand, like a father holds his child's hand for protecting and guiding the little one.

So, when we are surrounded by filth, we should not compromise on compassion and integrity, because the Lord protects and guides us.

Hare Krishna!

Thanks for your words of praise shravan :-)Am glad you're liking my poems!

Cheers :-)

Thanks for the question Rush :-)
Slum is a squalid area, unfit for living conditions. To see an Angel there would be like seeing a lotus flower, which is surrounded by filth and dirt.

Have a nice time!

It is true that a lotus can bloom in any body of water whether it is clean or not... The lotus stands out as a unique flower because it is preferred by Mahalakshmi, Narayana and even Lord Shiva !!!

Thanks for a lovely photo and post..

A divine touch in the words.
Similar lines are there in Gita.
(I have searched for those verses to share with you, but didn't get.)

To stay untouched by the mud beneath is greatness..

Nice post, simple as always, yet deep the meaning.

Yes, in Gita, Krishna mentions about Lotus flower....

"One who does all work as an offering to the Lord, abandoning attachment to the results, is as untouched by sin (or Karmic reaction) as a lotus leaf is untouched by water."

I think, this is the verse you must have searched for... right?

Am really glad to know you read Gita. Aroha to you!

Actually It's a good poem.Nice one.Once I saw that lotus's picture with that three lines my mind thought about Lord Rama.Like that lotus he also was born in this earth & lived here.specially he lived in forest too.
Lotus in the mud
Rama in the earth
Rama in the forest...

You & your brother also like that lotus in that Mr.Narayanan's mansion ! I thought this too as I knew that water problem & the good work you did for others.

manivannan said...

Welcome to my blog Niru. Thank you very much for adding more meaning to the poem with your wonderful insights :-) Am really glad you liked the poem.

Like to see you again :-)

Thank You :)
This poem is like Anjaneyar to me.
Because it just talked three lines simply & politely. But it brought me the thoughts of unmeasurable Ram.:)

manivannan said...

The pleasure is all mine Niru :D It's purely your devotion to Rama, which had made you feel so. But am really happy since the poem was a tool :-) Thanks again for adding immense value to the post by your lovely comments :-)

And thanks a ton for cheering me :-)

Have a great week ahead!
